1. What inspires the team to create extraordinary experiences for guests?
I think the very architecture and history of our buildings inspires the team. The former canal homes (now the hotel) are so unique and have lots of character! Similarly, each team member has their personal way of treating each of the guests. We stick to being ourselves, and truly take care of our guests as we if they were our own friends – a good base for creating extraordinary experiences. The Toren team’s genuine attitude is the main reason why we won the 2018 TripAdvisor Best Service of The Netherlands Award.
2. Can you share some examples of memorable moments at The Toren?
One of my favorite memories is a guest who visited us after recovering from a long- term illness. It was their “celebrate life” trip after a long hardship and the 1st time they could spend some much needed time together. I knew as soon the reservations team shared their booking with me, it was going to be a special one. At the end of their stay, it didn’t feel like we made new friends but new family members! We received a very kind letter from the couple, and knowing they had the “best stay ever” and how they missed The Toren Team was incredible for us. They even included a photo of the rest of the family who are looking forward to future visit to The Toren!
3. What are some of the staff picks for must-see, must-dos in Amsterdam?
Ah- there’s sooo much to choose and depends on what the guests like! But my favorites are the Vondelpark in the summer, The Jordaan area, private canal cruises, the history of the east side of Amsterdam, the Foodhallen and of course walks through the Amsterdam canals. Oh and don’t forget to try the ‘Bitterballen’ and the ‘stroopwafels’!
