Day 1
Food Tour
Get off the tourist track and experience a part of the ‘authentic’ Rome, full of delicious food stops.
Allow our local expert to transport you though a truly rich culinary experience; visit the best food spots, meet talented food artisans, and taste local products, all whilst learning about their historical and cultural origins.
Start your journey with a pleasant walk along the picturesque neighborhoods of Campo de’Fiori, the Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere and let yourself immerse in some of the most iconic gastronomical areas of the city, loved by tourist and locals alike.
You may have heard of Campo de’Fiori as one of the most famous markets in Rome. Come and enjoy it as a local and discover some of the best local products. Let the market work on your appetite and stop at one the oldest bakeries of the capital for some typical pastries and “Pizza al Taglio” (pizza by the slice), an absolute favorite of the Romans.
By the end of the day you will certainly know the difference between Carbonara, Cacio e Pepe and Amatriciana, some of the most famous dishes of Rome’ Cucina Povera (Roman so called “poor” specialties), but rich in flavor.

Day 2
Pizza Making Class and Teatime at the First Dolce
In this Pizza Making Class you will learn how to make two of Italy’s most iconic creations: the mighty Pizza and the decadent Gelato. Why should you roam the streets of Rome searching for the tastiest specialties when you can make them at home? Join us either at our 17th century palazzo behind Piazza Navona or at our brand-new cooking school a stone’s throw from the Pantheon. Never cook on an empty stomach: we’ll make you feel at home with a glass of Prosecco or local wine as well as delicious appetizers before you roll up your sleeves and start working on the dough.
Our English-speaking Italian chef will let you in on the secret techniques of kneading the dough, as Italians have been doing for centuries. Don’t be alarmed if your pizza looks different from the traditional pizza you may have tried in Naples; our Roman pizza has a thinner crust and is famous for being crunchy and extremely tasty! After preparing the dough (which needs some time to rise), you will be able to garnish your pizza choosing from a great variety of fresh ingredients from salty prosciutto to fruity black olives. Keep it simple with a sauceless pizza “bianca” or add a rich tomato sauce for a pizza “rossa”.

Now that you are a safekeeper of the secrets of pizza making, relax with an afternoon tea at Velo, the tea-room at The First Roma Dolce hotel, where you will be welcomed by resident pastry chef Andrea Cingottini. Chef Cingottini is only 26 years old, but already a rising star in the capital, from his experience at the Pastry Academy to that of Acquolina, the two-Michelin-starred restaurant of The First Group.
Don’t be fooled by the French aesthetics; Velo is all-Italian taste and will delight you with delicacies such as mignon pastries, chocolate pralines, and a mix of classic and modern cakes (made to order). Chocolate lovers will dwell in a vast menu, including chocolates with rum, hazelnut, coffee or pralines. Pair your sweets with one of 22 infusions from a list that includes White tea (made from rose petals), Karcadè and Matcha. The Lounge and the menu are curated by Luigi Traettino, Restaurant Manager, who is no stranger to the world of mixology.
